GENERAL USER HINTS Anyone can view this gallery, but only registered, Harris Hill members can upload photos.
Clicking on photo thumbnails will, of course, bring up a larger version of the photo. In many cases, clicking on this larger photo will bring up a still larger version of the photo.
The visual theme of the gallery may be varied by the user. Look for a small pull down box on each page (usually upper right or bottom center of screen).
Note that a disappearing submenu can be exposed by running your mouse over the (@) sign on the menu strip near the top of the screen. Registered users will need to do this to see the link for logging on to the system for uploads.
When browsing the galleries, look to the lower right screen corner to see numbered click tabs leading to additional gallery pages.
REGISTERED USERS Note: This photo gallery facility is owned and provided by Harris Hill Soaring as a service to its members and the public. Aside from providing entertainment and documentation of our club activities, it also projects our corporate image around the world. To the extent that we use the gallery in a positive, tasteful fashion, the image projected to our public viewers will be a good one.
Only Harris Hill Soaring members can become Registered Users.
Registered Users can:
= upload pictures to gallery server.
= create their own albums to contain their photos.
= erase and modify their own albums and photo captions.
= assign a rating (vote) to gallery photographs.
Only Registered Users can upload picture files to the Gallery, though anyone can view them.
Registration requests must be submitted via e-mail to the Administrator, and approved, before Registered User privileges begin. Request should be made via your primary e-mail address, not a throwaway account. E-mail addresses will not be displayed on the gallery. Request for gallery upload access must contain:
= first and last name of requester
= current primary e-mail address
= are you a Junior or a Senior member?
= your preferred signon ID (this may be changed if your choice is already taken)
= your preferred password

FILE UPLOADING TIPS 1. Space is somewhat limited on the server. Please reformat each photo file to a maximum 500KB file size before trying to upload. Files that are too large will be automatically rejected by the system.
2. Files of 250KB to 500KB will render fine on this gallery software. File size is affected by a number of factors: image size (pixel count), image resolution, and color pallete (number of colors). Image resolutions of 72-100 pixels/inch will render fine, as will photos of 256 colors.
3. A good PC-based tool for resizing and cropping photos is IrfanView. It works well - and it's free.
4. Maximum storage space available is 75 MB per person. This is sufficient for storing 225 photos of 333KB file size, which can be distributed through a number of galleries.
5. Before you can upload files to your album space, you must have already created an empty album in the gallery. During the upload process you will be asked to which of your albums each of the upload files is going. You will then be given the chance to add picture names, captions, dates, photogs name, etc. These details may also be added or changed later.
6. You will not be able to add your photos to the Main, Events or Miscellaneous galleries. The galleries that you create will show up in the top section of the home page - called User Galleries.
GALLERY POLICY INFORMATION Only current registered HHSC members may upload photos to the gallery. They may register and obtain a signon and userid from the Administrator . Requests should come from the members primary e-mail address; not from a throwaway account (gmail, etc.). Members e-mail addresses will not be shown on the gallery.
Persons submitting photos which they have themselves taken retain ownership and copyright to those photos, but in doing so grant HHSC the right to publish/display them on the gallery. Persons submitting photos which are not theirs are assumed to have the permission of the original photographer. End users viewing these photos may not redistribute them or sell them for a profit. HHSC retains the right to remove photos from the gallery at any time and for any reason.
Please respect privacy of individuals your are photographing. If they request that you not display their photo in the gallery, please respect their request.
Photos or captions that are deemed offensive or derogatory will be removed at the discretion of the gallery administrator. Users abusing the gallery will be locked out, and their photos removed.
